Breaking; Explosion heard in Mogadishu and details coming in

Somalia’s capital Mogadishu is experiencing security instability in run up to the expected general elections on 2021

An explosion has this afternoon taken place in Mogadishu, which was heard in parts of the city.

The blast is reported to be a landmine, targeting an unarmed vehicle passing near Deva Hospital near the Tarabuunka Junction in Hodan district.

Reports say a motorcyclist was injured in the blast, who was rushed to hospital.

The security situation in Mogadishu has been deteriorating in recent days, with explosions and attacks taking place.

The latest comes a day after a series of bombings and direct attacks on the Elite Hotel near Lido Beach, killing more than 10 people on this past Sunday afternoon.
