Dhusamareb (BenaadirTV) – The conference in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug state, which was attended by the heads of the regional administrations and the central government in the absence of Jubbaland and Puntland has been presented with 4 different types of elections.
These types of elections were brought before the Dhusamareb 3 Technical Committee to consider the type of elections to take place in the country.
The committee forwarded the proposals to the presidents of HirShabelle, K / Galbeed, Galmudug and the governor of Benadir, with Ahmed Madobe and Said Deni boycotting the meeting.
The types of elections presented by the committee are as follows:
- Indirect elections increase voter turnout to 101 to 1000 voters, with delegates selected by elders, and civil society, for a joint parliamentary election before February 2021.
- Both direct and indirect elections will be held in some constituencies, and others will be held elsewhere, with more than one million people eligible to vote by July 2021.
- Biometric, with more than 3 million people voting, taking 13 months – Electoral Commission Recommendation-.
- Person and vote Registration and voting on the same day will have 3 to 4 million and could take 9-12 months.
According to reports from Dhusamareb, Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is committed to the second round of direct and indirect elections in some areas, while others will be held which will reportedly have one million votes to be held by July 2021.
President Farmajo has caused controversy within the leaders of the regional administrations, and now it appears that he has strong support from the Presidents of HirShabelle, Southwest and Galmudug who are hosting the conference.
The presidents of Puntland and Jubbaland have made it a condition of their participation that President Farmajo first nominate a prime minister to implement the outcome of the conference, and that the international community witness the conference, accusing the president of violating previous agreements.
