Reports indicate that the Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and the state presidents of HirShabelle and Southwest regional administrations met with US Ambassador to Somalia Donald Yamamoto at Aden Adde International Airport.
The meeting took place this afternoon until late into the evening when the leaders returned from the Dhusamareb III Conference.
Reports say that the meeting took hours as many issues were talked about on the situation in Somalia, in particular the agreement reached on the upcoming election.
The meeting also discussed how the United States can support Puntland and Jubbaland regional administrations to meet with government officials to finalize the Dhusamareb agreement 3.
To that end, sources add that President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo was asked to invite the two regional presidents, and the United States will advice them to accept the invitation.
The US ambassador was also asked to convince the opposition parties of the result of Dhuusamareeb III and for the United States to be the partner that will implement the Dhusamareb 3 resolution.
Reports say the United States has told the president that elections cannot be held like this, as Puntland and Jubaland are important, and opposition parties must also accept the agreement.
The plan is to hold another conference to finalize the Dhusamareb 3 conference, and with possibilities that the Dhusamareb agreement will change, as Puntland and Jubbaland have not signed.
