One month in, Prime Minister seat is still vacant…

Somalia’s longest serving Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre was sacked last month by Parliament

Its now been a month since Prime minister of Somalia Hassan Ali Kheyre was sacked on July 25, after a vote of no confidence in parliament.

President Farmajo has yet to name a new prime minister to take over from the incumbent government led by Mahdi Mohamed Guled, who was appointed caretaker prime minister on the day Hassan Ali Kheyre was sacked.

Opposition parties and some regional governments have called the president’s decision not to nominate a new prime minister as a political ploy and manipulate the electoral for 2020.

The non-appointment of the prime minister has sparked controversy in the Dhusamareeb 3 conference, which was not attended by two major regional administrations in Somali politics, citing the absence of a prime minister.
