United Nations to convene summit of heads of states and Fed government

The United Nations has announced that it will hold a high-level meeting with the Heads of State and Government of Somalia on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of September 21, the International Day of Peace.

At this meeting, world leaders, including Somali leaders, will accept a political statement on the future of what needs to be done.

The talks, called by the United Nations, come at a time when the federal government is calling for a review of the performance of the United Nations office in Somalia, after accusing it of lacking political and development support for state-building in Somalia.

The Federal Government and the UN Office in Somalia are expected to define priorities for the next five years as part of the 2021-2025 Partnership Framework.
