Mogadishu – Further details are emerging of a suicide bombing that took place this evening outside a restaurant called Blue Sky that is located within a heavily guarded checkpoint in the capital.
Somali Ministry of Information spokesman Ismail Mukhtar Oronjo confirmed the blast was carried out by a suicide bomber who targeted the restaurant.
The blast has so far been reported to have killed at least three people and injured seven others, according to the spokesman, but it is feared the toll could rise.
“Three people were killed and seven others were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the Blue Sky restaurant,” said Ismail Oronjo in a statement posted on Twitter.
Government forces have closed the site of the explosion, although no one has yet claimed responsibility for bombings, the militant terrorist group Al Shabab have been renowned to deploy this type of tactics.
