A number of mortar shells are believed to have hit some districts in Banadir region tonight. Reports are emerging of at least 9 mortar shells that were heard this evening with residents in the capital telling BenaadirTV of hearing ”multiple mortar-like explosions” in Mogadishu. A large bulk of the mortar shells hit densely populated civilian neighborhoods. Mortar shells were heard by residents in a span of 10 minutes with some of the mortar hitting Hamarweyne district, Hamar Jajab, Boondheere and one reported in and around near Villa Somalia proximity of Warta-Nabada District. Mogadishu conference canceled, reports say it was ”re-scheduled”

Thursday, September 10, 2020 – The meeting of the heads of regional administrations, Benadir region and the leaders of the federal government of Somalia to discuss electoral model did not commence as expected in Mogadishu today. Mogadishu – Further details are emerging of a suicide bombing that took place this evening outside a restaurant called Blue Sky that is located within a heavily guarded checkpoint in the capital. Somali Ministry of Information spokesman Ismail Mukhtar Oronjo confirmed the blast was carried out by a suicide bomber who targeted the restaurant. MOGADISHU – A very loud bomb blast had taken place a few minutes ago in the Somali capital Mogadishu. The blast took place at a restaurant at the Blue Sky checkpoint guarding the Somali presidential palace. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police station in the capital, Mogadishu. Daily Nation Militants loyal to jihadist group Al-Shabaab waged a heavy attack on Bal’ad town, 30 km north of Mogadishu, early on Tuesday. In a Twitter message, Ministry of Information spokesperson Ismael Mukhtar Omar said there was an ambush but that the Somali National Army (SNA) recaptured the town. “The militants have been repelled from the town,” the spokesman tweeted, adding SNA forces killed 14 of them. 6th September 2020 – Mogadishu – Ahmed Hussein Nur (Keyse), a young university graduate, was shot dead last night in Mogadishu’s Wadajir district. He was shot dead by gunmen in Bulo-Hubey last night, who then fled the scene. Locals report that the killers were a gang of three, who robbed the recent graduate victim’s phone but that he had refused to give it up, which led to the shooting and the robbers taking his mobile phone from him.
